
ADELE MARTIN
Adele Elizabeth Martin spent her childhood in south Lincolnshire as the daughter of third generation horticulturists. Inspired by her upbringing Adele’s current practice surrounds soil sculptures. Adele is interested in materiality and the way in which the soil can be constructed and moulded, as well as how it erodes and returns to its original state.
The artworks being created for Insert Art Here manifest in a personal conflict between Adele’s love of growing and art. With a familial connection to the reclaimed land of south Lincolnshire, Adele always been surrounded by soil and its potential. Through the narrative of sculptural self-portraits and photography Adele aims at bring the viewer on a journey, as she returns to the Lincolnshire Fens.
